Cosmetics

Everyday you wake up and start the same routine and the ending goal is to be attractive – maybe more attractive than yesterday. Maybe you put on some mascara, maybe some gloss and some blush and look exactly the same as you do everyday. Every now and then, it’s time for a cosmetics overhaul to keep your look fresh and current. This season makeup is bold and dramatic. Here’s our tried and tested picks to add some seriously sexy colours to your look:

Wet/Dry Eyeshadow:
Try Bourjois wet and dry eye shadows. Watch what a little water will do for that nock ‘em-dead look.

Glitter Eyeshadow:
Try some powder eye shadows from MANIC PANIC. These richly satisfying long-wearing eye shadows are packed with pigment and micro glitter. Buy single colours or paint box palettes.

Coloured Eyelash Mascara:
Be daring and try some Stargazer Mascara. A variety of colours are available. Colours like turquoise, violet, red, white, blue, and pink. If you just want a hint of colour on the lashes, apply it just on the tips.

3D Mascara:
Have you seen the latest mascara from Revlon? It’s called 3D Extreme and will give your lashes extreme fullness. If drama is what you want, you’ll get it – as well as curvier, visibly longer lashes. It doesn’t cake or flake and comes in waterproof too.

Mood Swing Lip Gloss:
This ought to change your mood. Too Faced carries a ‘mood swing’ lip-gloss with a secret blend of oils and extracts help keep your lips smooth & supple, rejuvenated, and protected from the sun. I’m sure you remember those ‘mood rings’ of the 90s that always stayed the same murky colour but don’t fret – your lips will look anything but murky.

Sooth and Shine Lipstick:
Face atelier’s lipsticks feel and look so good. They will sooth your lips and make them shine. They contain antioxidants, essential oils, and provide sun protection.

12 tips on using Concealer

Make sure a concealer or make up matches your skin. See how it looks in bright light or sunlight. It should blend so well that it seems transparent on the skin, yet it hides the desired areas. A more natural look is when you use sheer layers. Here are some tips to get the best results out of concealer:

Tip 1 – Put a small amount on your fourth fingertip. Dot it on and move from the outside corner of the eye inward, and back out again.

Tip 2 – Concealer can be used over or under foundation, whichever way you choose, be sure to blend, blend and blend. While you are blending, be gentle to your skin. A triangular makeup sponge can be used to blend in a gentle back-and-forth dotting motion.

Tip 3 – Always prep dry skin with moisturizer before applying.

Tip 4 – Don’t use concealer on freckles and pigmentations unless you really need to because they may require heavier layers which could make them look worse.

Tip 5 – When it comes to dark circles, use your fingertips for the under eye area. Use a shade lighter than your foundation if they are recessed. Use a bit darker if they are puffy.

Tip 6 – To hide spider veins, you will need a yellow-based concealer.

Tip 7 – Don’t forget the most susceptible areas like the nose bridge, corner of mouth and outer corner of eyes. These areas need special attention while applying concealer.

Tip 8 – Apply concealer sparingly. It shouldn’t be cakey or thick.

Tip 9- After applying, smile into the mirror and check that you applied the concealer evenly. Blot gently with a tissue over uneven spots.

Tip 10 – After you have finished, lightly brush with a sheer translucent powder. This will set your concealer.

Tip 11 – Always have two concealers. Have one for your tanned days whether from a tanning booth or from the sun, and one for your normal skin tone.

Tip 12 – Do not keep concealer or other cosmetics for more than a year. It could harbor bacteria which will cause your face to break out

Men Are In Need Of Cosmetics Too!!

Male groomingEven though us men will not admit it, but some of us are also in need of a little cosmetic help too.

Male grooming is just as important to us like a woman with her make up bag. There are a range of male grooming products out there on the market which can help us maintain that healthy and fresh look. Products to look out for will be mens anti-aging creams, eye care, night treatments and lip care. Beauty products for men will help maintain that youthful and fresh look which will help give you that boost of confidence!

Here are a few tips to keep your skin looking youthful:

Cleansers will work extremely well if your skin is clean and kept free of irritants it will help any healing the skin needs to do. Washing your face on a regular basis will increase the circulation and will maintain and improve cell regeneration.

Exfoliating will increase circulation by sending fresh blood cells to the skins surface, this will make you skin feel a lot fresher, firmer and smoother because the exfoliater has removed the build up of dead skin cells. For great results, exfoliate the whole body once a week to see differences on your skin

It is important to regularly treat the skin around the eyes; the skin surrounding the eyes is the thinnest on the body. Whats also important is to never rub moisturizers to harshly on the skin as this is subjecting your skin around the eyes to constant wear and tear. The area around the eyes is the first place to show age.

To stay fresh everyday, all males out there should invest in some quality mens skincare lines

When Cosmetics Can Actually Make You Look Bad…..

Make up is meant to enhance your look, not overwhelm your facial features. Ive have seen this plenty of times where women just go OTT on the foundation and eye shadow and they get the look of Krusty the Clown instead of the look of elegance! There are various ways telling if you are a bit too overzealous when applying your make up. These are:

Find a foundation that matches your skin colour: This is the most basic rule in cosmetics that every women should know! A foundation that matches the colour of your skin gives a more natural look than one that’s completely off. If you do manage to find one that is perfect for you, you are most likely to use less of the foundation than expected. If you need help in this perilous mission, head down to stores such as Boots or Selfridges where an experienced makeup artist will be more than happy help you (well thats what they say!).

Make sure there is enough light:
If you apply makeup in a dark environment, you’ll end up looking too made up once you step out to go to work or shopping, meaning that you will be applying more make up and looking like a drag queen! If you can, invest in bright well lit light bulbs (shall I mention energy saving too!) for your bathroom which is the next best thing to natural light.

Shape your eyebrows:
Make up artists say that well-shaped brows gives a face an instant new look and unique look. A lot of men out there find it very off putting seeing a girl who looks like she has either had her eyebrows threaded or shaped by someone who has been blindfolded!
